We care about the future
We're making fashion more sustainable and responsible for the future of your wardrobe and the planet. Our main objective is to make our production sustainable and take social responsibility.
Social Responsibility
Samples
Through our testing and design process we produce a lot of sample pieces for testing placement or print colours or even designs. Because of this we do have pieces that don't quite make the main collections. To keep from wasting material we hold a sample sale every year to keep clothes in circulation and out of landfill.
Summer 2025 Sample Sale
In the summer of 2025 we let the public take a sneak peak into the One Hundred Stars archive. We held a huge event over a weekend in June 2025 where we help a public sample sale to raise money for several Sheffield charities.
Together we raised a whopping £90,074 for some fantastic charities! This is a huge sum and far more than any of us could have expected, these purchases are going to make a real difference!
We set up interviews with our chosen charities to understand a little more about each charity. Here are just a couple...
Sheffield Flourish
Sara from Sheffield Flourish came to discuss their mental health guide which features really useful information centred around mental health. Sheffield Flourish also create mental health friendly groups and workshops like garden groups, art and music groups to name a few.
The Snowdrop Project
The Snowdrop Project is a Sheffield-based charity which supports and empowers survivors of modern slavery and exploitation in South Yorkshire to recover from their pasts and rebuild their futures.
Snowdrop provides holistic, long-term, community-based support to survivors so that they can reach a place of independence.
Reducing waste with off cut materials
Waste within the fashion industry is inevitable. However we saw the opportunity to reduce our wastage of off-cut material. Off cut material is produced when cutting sewing patterns from our beautiful fabric. Each pattern will be placed in a way that makes the most of all of the material, however there will always be some extra that is not used in the creation of our pieces. We've taken this extra waste product and created the headband from the waste. These are not only sustainable but let you put a finishing touch of One Hundred Stars to any outfit.
Transporting
Reducing the carbon foot print makes a large impact on our planet. We use sea freight to transport our products to our warehouse in the UK. Using sea freight emits less CO2 per tonne of cargo than air transport. For this reason our products take a little longer to get here but at the cost of helping reduce emissions.
Green Packaging
All of our packaging is made of recycled materials and is also recyclable. Including our card and cardboard is FSC certified. FSC certified requires the material to go through a process which makes it environmentally friendly every step of the way. We use cardboard boxes and Kraft paper in our packaging. Kraft paper can be recycled multiple times and decomposes naturally, preventing long-term landfill waste. This in turn helps to reduce the use of non-renewable materials while sending your wonderful garments.
